Hong Kong Trip 27 to 30 April 2008

27 April 08:

Woke up early in the morning at 3.15 am to catch my flight to Hong Kong at 6.40 am.

Finally we arrived in Hong Kong at 10.19 am. However, Hong Kong immigration very 烂。The queue is very long, we waited for an hour to clear the immigration.

Something very funny happened during the queue. Got one China old man showed his wife's passport to the officer.

Officer: 这是哪位啊~~？ (with the very strong Hong Kong accent, he like to pull the 啊very long~~)

Old Man: 这是我太太

Officer：你太太在哪里啊~~？ （im already amused by his hong kong accent at that time)

Old Man: 我太太在后面坐下

Officer: 叫你太太过来啊~~！ 她在后面我怎么看得到她啊~~！(i'm already bursting into laughter liao, that officer keep looking at me while suan-ing that old man. make me so paiseh dunno where to look at, haha...)

Just reached Hong Kong already so funny liao, really brightens up our day man! Hahaha...!!

After the long hours of flight and the super long waiting time at the immigration, our bladder gonna burst liao, after clearing our luggage, chiong straight to the toilet!

103 more days to 北京 2008 年奥运会 （Beijing 2008 Olympic Games)

As this is a budget trip, there isn't any transfer to our "hotel". Actually we are staying in a flat. The flat is amazing, can convert into six different rooms for renting and each room got their own toilet. Singapore flat sure cannot convert to like that one lor.

We bought a ticket at HKD$33 per trip for the bus ride to our "hotel". It's actually quite convenient and cheap compared to taking a taxi.

This bus is specially for tourists whereby we can place our luggage in the shelves.

Just came out of the airport. It is a very hazy day on the day we arrived. Can't see the scenery clearly. Nevertheless, the weather is superb! Between 21 - 26 degree celsius. Love the weather alot!

After settling down at our "hotel", we proceed down to the MTR station to 旺角 for our lunch.

香港人很没有礼貌。 They wouldnt let people alight first b4 getting to the train. They will just push the people in front of them to get in. I'm shocked whereby they can push me from the door that I just entered to the opposite door when the train is so packed. They win liao lor...!

Although their car drivers drive the same side as us, but they have to keep right on the escalator for other people to overtake on the left. A bit weird...

See the 香港人 just stand in the centre of the door, blocking the way. 最有礼让精神的是台湾人。They will really stand by the side, wait till every single bit of the passengers get out liao then they will get into the train.

Finally we arrived at 旺角。 Actually it's just 2 stops away nia la, haha...

We decide to settle our lunch at this fast food restaurant, 大家乐。 Amazed by their super dynamic menu, the staff will just stand there to keep changing the menu. One second we wanna order this food, the next second it's sold out not on the menu le.

Eventually I ordered this 腊味拼盘。 There's chicken wing, sotong, sausage, veggie, salted egg and their super soft char siew.

After lunch, start our shopping trip loh! Saw this 小吃店。

Frankly speaking, quite disappointed with Hong Kong 小吃。Not as much variety as Taiwan's 小吃。

Come to Hong Kong of course must try their 香辣鱼蛋

Thanks to Shiyun, she's always carrying the street directory and the travel book to source for our places of interest.

Spotted this Singapore Restaurant. Nothing impressive on their menu leh... 真的是丢新加坡的脸。

Then we came to Langham Place 朗豪坊。

Inside this shopping centre, there's one super long escalator. A very great scene for taking photos.

人家说到香港很容易看到明星。果然！ On our way, we saw Ada Choy 蔡少芬。She's promoting prevention of animal abuse i think... Cantonese la, cant really understand what they are talking, haha... 她比我想象中还要高。Thought she look quite petite in Hong Kong dramas.

谁说来香港买东西吃东西，　买东西吃东西，回去新加坡会胖。　到处都是斜坡。MTR stations also mostly have stairs only. 又爬上又爬下的，很累哟～～～

After the shopping at 旺角, it's almost evening time, we are proceeding to 星光大道 (Avenue of Stars) for the symphony of lights which will start at 8 pm.

In the train....

..... proceed to our next destination, 尖沙嘴！

Symphony of lights starts sharply at 8 pm. Basically, it's just playing the music through a very 沙哑 speaker with the skyscrapers at the opposite (港岛，HongKong Island) playing with the lights. A bit disappointing, the lights are not impressive, not much varieties. Somemore with that "sexy" speaker, spoilt the whole atmosphere... -_-"

But I missed the weather at that time, it's super cooling, especially at night near the sea, the sea breeze very comfy blowing at our faces. Cool yet not that cold that will make my teeth fight against each other.

It's hazy on that day, thus the night scene not very clear.

星光大道 is a place whereby there are alot 明星 palm prints on the ground. Most of them I dunno who are they, not my generation sia... Cant be bothered to take photos of the palm prints, haha...

After the symphony of lights, proceed back to Jordan where our "hotel" is located.

Think this is at 庙街 (abit forgot liao). Having our dinner at this 路边摊。Sad to say not easy to find 路边摊 in hong kong, it's all 茶餐厅 everywhere, 卖来卖去都是腊味，云吞面，abit sianz...　我要吃小吃！！*不开心 liao*

After dinner we went back to our "hotel" for a rest le. It's already 12 am, basically we woke up everyday at 7 am and returned to "hotel" at 12 am, must make full use of time, haha...

The next morning liao...

This is the flat that we are staying in. They always say Hong Kong flats very small and narrow, 现在我终于体会到了，　真的是在窄到不行咯！

Proceed to the MTR station again, 今天我们将过海, cross the sea. Today's itinery will be Ocean Park　海洋公园 and The Peak　山顶. They are both located at Hong Kong Island. So today we will be spending the whole day and night at Hong Kong Island.

原来香港也有 Admiralty, haha... 金钟　is like our CBD area, Tanjong Pagar & Shenton Way. We have to proceed to 金钟 for the bus ride to Ocean park.

New environment, cant sleep well, early in the morning at 5.40 am I wake up liao, very tired still, sleeping on the wall, haha... :p

This is the bus that we are taking to Ocean Park.

Finally we reached Ocean Park.

As we arrived too early, the Ocean Park which opens at 10 am is not open yet. So we went to walk walk, at this ulu place, there's no shops nearby.

肚子又饿了，我们走了很远很远，　终于皇天不负苦心人，about 30 mins finally we found this hawker centre. YAY!!!

On the way, we saw this car parking machine. Pay your parking fees via this machine, dunno how it works though...

The hawker centre is located in an industrial area and some old old dirty dirty flats area.

Dun think the hawker centre is very big, alot food, actually there's only these stalls shown below and there's nothing much to eat.

We looked as if we are like aliens there, the people there keep looking at us. Very awkward how to eat like that, finally we found a corner spot.

Ordered 鱼片公仔面. It simply means instant noodles with fish cake la... -_-"

The soup is super salty lor, how to drink like that and the 奶茶 taste weird, drink one mouth den dun wanna drink liao... yucks...

Finally we are back to Ocean Park. This time we smart liao, din walk back 30 mins, the auntie told us to take a cab there, just HKD$16 only for 4 pax.

Hey hey, our first spot, Hot Air Balloon. Can see me in the basket anot? Haha...

We waited for 1 hour before we managed to get up the balloon. As it's quite windy that morning, the ballon only takes 7-8 people at a time. Usually it can take up to 30 people on normal days. can imagine how windy it is le.

After that one hour of long wait, this is what we see. Construction sites and construction sites only, disappointing lor!!

Next we going to see the Pandas.

Ocean Park is split into 上山和下山。下山 is what we have seen above, now we are proceeding up to 上山　via cable car. The distance is very long.

Me and my favourite rides, Ferris Wheel. 什么roller coaster, pirate ship 通通都放过我吧，我会晕的哟！

On the ferris wheel, in the end I'm busying looking at the map for dinner later, missed out all the scenery outside, haha...

Finish all the events, it's time to 下山. Again, here comes the super long escalator and moving so slowly. Tired liao, sitting on it to rest, haha...

下了山之后， we are proceeding to The Peak. The nearest MTR station to The Peak is 中环。

中环 is just like our Orchard road（Ngee Ann City & Paragon Area), full of branded goods. Below is an example of LV 专卖店。Looks posh isn't it? 金光闪闪的 leh... Haiyo, 真是刺眼 :p

Heh Heh, here comes my FAVOURITE skyscraper. Super duper loves it ARCHITECTURE!!!

有看港剧的朋友， 肯定不会没见过它。It is one of Hong Kong's most identifiable landmarks today.

它就是。。。 BANK OF CHINA TOWER 中银大厦

Designed by Ieoh Ming Pei (Chinese American Architect). The 72 storey building is 305 m high with two masts reaching 367.4 m high. It is now the third tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong.

This is the only building in Hong Kong that never consult a 风水师 comments before building it. As we can see, the building resembles a "Meat Cleaver" and it is facing sharp at Citibank building and HSBC building.

哈哈，心机好重喔！Of cos both Citibank and HSBC have resorted to amend its outer structure to 阻挡 the 杀气 from Bank of China Tower. Ha，so interesting!!

Ok, after the long-winded history telling of my favourite building, finally we arrived the Peak Tram station. I must say it loudly: THIS IS THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE HONG KONG TRIP!!! From the tram up to the Peak , woohoo~~~~!!!

Inside the tram very funny! I asked my frenz Ey how come all the buildings and houses outside the tram slanted one, all slanted 45 degree celsius? They all laughed at me, becos the tram is going upwards from the ground. Then I said Ey but I also got take cable car upwards before but the buildings not slanted leh... They -_-"

下了山， we came to Hong Kong's clubbing area 兰桂坊 to experience the night life here.

都说了，come Hong Kong can see 明星 one. We even met our local 明星，莫小玲

After experiencing the night life, it's time for our DINPER!! (dinner cum supper)

奇怪，we are not feeling hungry despite whole day eat nothing, only in the morning eat that 鱼片公仔面。

I ordered my favourite PIG KIDNEY!!! wah piang, look at how big the size is, compare to Singapore one. Whole day eat nothing, must 宠一宠自己， I even asked the uncle to add their wanton into it. Heh Heh, super duper TASTY！！

After our dinper, we went back to shower and sleep le...

Early next morning is a Tuesday! Look at those Hongkie 匆匆忙忙地去上班，而我呢，尤哉闲哉地在偷拍他们，哈哈。。。

MTR station full of Hongkie people man....

Today we came to 中环 again. Come to Hong Kong, how can dont try their authentic YUM CHA leh??? 那就白来了， 是不是~~~

Below pictures are trying to show yall that Hong Kong got lots of slopes, everywhere you go are slopes, have to climb up and climb down the slopes, very tedious. That's why I 佩服 Hong Kong 老人。Their legs can tahan the slope. 新加坡老人去香港肯定走不动， 什么关节炎啦， 风湿病啦。。。 新加坡老人 cant survive in Hong Kong.

Finally we arrived at the authentic YUM CHA restaurant after 101 slopes.

Authentic yum cha restaurant must have people pushing the trolley selling tim sum and people reading newspaper while appreciating the chinese tea.

Tim Sum must go with 普洱茶 in Hong Kong.

This is only 1/4 of what we ordered. The old man waiter very funny. He walk passed us, saw the numbers of 笼 on our table and had a big shock. He wide open his eyes and mouth, cant believe what we ordered and snatch our order bill to see how many 笼 we eaten, haha...

actually Hongkie dont order like us one. They usually go alone or with some friends, sit around a table, order chinese tea and at most one 笼 of 千层糕， 马来糕 or 大叉烧包 for breakfast. Then they will chit chat la, read newspapers la, sit there zo bo drink tea la, very relaxing...

Not like us go there purely for food, no wonder the waiter tio-chua, haha...

Here comes our bill,, only S$11 per pax, so cheap!! Singapore eat like that already $100+ liao....

Bought some 棋子饼 from that restaurant. 棋子饼 is just like mooncake, just that it's mini in size.

Found my favourite DRUMSTICK 鸡腿 in Times Square. hehe...

香港到处都是帅哥美女，一点也没夸张。Take MTR got 帅哥，飞机上 also got 帅哥。。这些帅哥我在新加坡从来没见过。。。

走到累了，当然得来香港的道地糖水店， 歇一歇脚， 喘一喘气。

Typical 糖水 got 炖牛奶啦，杨枝干露啦，红豆冰啦。。。来香港 if dun try their 道地糖水， 就瞎掉了，是不是。。。

And me leh, trying out their 红豆冰。 Different from Singapore's Ice Kachang which is made up of ice and syrup. Hong Kong's is made up of red bean and milk. Yummy~~~!

Next to go is Lai Chi Kok. Dun mistaken there alot lychees hor, one lychee also din see lor... Actually it's a wholesale centre la... But this is the most disappointing place so didnt take any pictures there, nothing to blog too.

But one thing nice there is their 新鲜出炉的 蛋挞！ 好松软的外皮喔，又是新加坡找不到地，嘻嘻~~~

回到旺角，走啊， 走啊，tired liao... 来个 碗仔翅 mini bowl sharks fin 充充体力吧！呵呵~~

通菜街，也就是俗称的 女人街 Ladies Street!

Selling stuff just keep repeating and repeating, nothing special... 旅游手册 还说专卖女人的东西咯。 屁咯！！ 我一样都没看到。 你们自己看下面，哪里有？都是玩具，男人的包包 和 tshirts.

I bought 3 towels here as a gift to colleagues.

好啦，有卖女人的东西啦， 就是性感内裤，sexy panties... *whistling*

It's dinner time again! This time our last dinner must eat something good. So we came to 有骨气火锅专门店。 Woo Hoo, 吃了很有骨气！！

Oh my goodness, strongly recommended it's soup base. Use chicken, herbal and 花雕酒 to cook one, super fragrant and tasty. Oh 我的老天爷啊，谁受得了啊！！救命啊，今晚不醉不归！！

In the menu, there's one item call 狮子狗， Chikuwa.

Ok so we asked the waiter what is 狮子狗。

He said 是鱼肉做的，长长的，中间又有一个洞。蛮好吃的，你们试试看。

Ok so we thought ey seems quite good and delicious and so special so we ordered.

And here comes the 狮子狗。。。。

Oh man, when we saw the 狮子狗，4 of us are like laughing till wanna fell off the chairs liao lor!!

Pls lor, their 狮子狗 is our yong tau foo lor!! I dun even eat it in Singapore lor, 都不好吃的！！

Then the waiter looking at us confusingly, why are we laughing so hard, had a good laugh that night man, HAHAHA!!!!

Another special item below, guess wat is it?? Not egg yolk wor!!

Highly recommended by the waiter. He so confidently said it's nice ok so we try it.

It's 奶皇水晶包， in simple English, it's custard in crystal dumpling. Yeah look at its effect before cook and after cooked, different liao right? The skin become transparent liao after cooked.

It tastes nice, sweet sweet one, as if it's our dessert. 好吃！

Ok back to "hotel", show off my towels now.

Early next morning, we went to eat tim sum again in a hotel for breakfast.

吃饱了，到厕所撒泡尿， 补个妆，又去 走街 hang gai loh!

我们真的是幸福的太太， 哇哈哈~~~

We came to this supermarket. At first I thought they dunno how to spell "Welcome" so i took this picture wanna blog it.

Then later i realised they didnt spell wrongly, because 惠 really means "well" leh... Smart ar they!

Bought full trolleys of titbits back to Singapore. Some of you may have already received it and try all the weird weird flavours of the potato chips.

Paiseh ar, Hong Kong really nothing to buy for you gals, i only manage to buy some of u gals titbits and towels. I know I missed out a lot people without buying for them but i really 搬不动回来，titbits very take up space of the luggage.

小猪妹在这里跟你们说真的很抱歉 and paiseh!!


After shopping, because we cannot find the famous 糖水店 called 唐朝， so we settled at 这家糖水店。

This time I tried their 杨枝干露。 It's actually mango ice with pomelo and grapefruit. Very worth it cos they give huge huge pieces of mango till I cant even scooped my "soup". The mango so "zuo teng" inside the bowl, haha... :p

小吃： 鱿鱼枝。 In simple terms it means sotong la...

Nicer than the one I ate in Taiwan. Taiwan's too elastic le, cant swallow. Hong Kong's more tender and not so salty. 好吃！

Before departing for the airport, we had our last lunch at KFC. 我发誓 I must try all the KFCs everytime I visit a country.

So far I tried Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Philippines dont have KFC, they have their own brand call Jollibee.

China's lousiest with no chilli sauce, using chilli powder.

Singapore's the best!!


Hong Kong's KFC special too, got 奶茶， honey bbq chicken wing, waffle fries and cheese balls.

Me pulling out the cheese from the cheese ball, really can pull leh, like pizza. And my favourite drumstick, haha!

Hong Kong's KFC chicken only got drumstick and thigh, didnt see any breast meat or what leh...

After KFC, time to go back to "hotel" to pack up and chiong straight to airport!

Rmb when we first arrived we took a bus? Now we are going to take back the same bus to the airport.

Ever seen tourists pulling so many luggages chiong across the 马路 to beat the flashing green man and waiting for bus in a bus stop? What a "pathetic" tourists we are! Haha... But seriously, it isnt that tough after all, quite easy and convenient in fact...

Spiralling overhead bridge, heard that this bridge appeared in many hong kong dramas before.

小猪妹讲古时间又到了！！ :p

青马大桥， Tsing Ma Bridge

This bridge ar, always appear in the drama one, especially at night, where the bridge's lights all light up, very colourful, very nice. Then the actors will drive a sports car pass through it, oh swee!

It is the world's 7th longest span suspension bridge，designed by Mott Macdonald. The bridge was named after two of the islands in Hong Kong, namely 青衣 and 马湾 . It has two decks and carries both road and rail traffic, which also makes it the largest suspension bridge of this type. The bridge has a main span of 1,377 metres and a height of 206 metres.

Finally we arrived at the airport...

When we first arrived in Hong Kong, it's 103 days countdown to Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, now left 100 days. On this day, there are alot celebrations going round in Hong Kong, but we missed it...

好漂亮的机场喔，漂亮到我要睡着了 :p

Even airport also got slopes, 香港，我真的是败给你的 slopes 了！！

Siao one lor, do this kind of slope, push down the trolley with luggages so dangerous, front luggage will fall off one lor, haiz...

买不到香港土产， eventually found this shop in the airport yet their price is affordable. Their 老婆饼 very nice, crust so soft. Not too sweet too, 好吃！

Next time got people come Hong Kong again, wanna longbang people to buy le, 荣华老婆饼， 赞！！

我要投诉， 香港机场 欺负我们这些没钱的人！！

Just bcos we took budget airlines, they bully us.... :"(

The bus dropped us at Terminal 1 only, but we gotta go to terminal 2 to check in, so difficult leh... take lift up take lift down, walk slopes up walk slope down, take escalator up take escalator down, take skytrain left, take skytrain right. The whole journey took about an hour lor...

After that I find the place very familiar. Isnt that Terminal 1 check in counter? They made us 爬上爬下的，whereby it's only less than 5 mins walk from Terminal 1 departure hall...

唉， 我们是可怜的咯。。。 =(

In the skytrain 拍照， 都笑不出了。。笑得很勉强。。。

As we 忙着爬上爬下, too tiring le, didnt even bother to take photos of our last dinner at the airport. But I must say the 皇府 红豆冰 is very nice, the milk is very fragrant, 好喝！

Finally, we arrived at Singapore... Home Sweet Home...

独家新闻：As my frenz are stuck at the DFS, so i came out alone first. At the immigration counter, our pilot keep looking at me. I walk away turn around, he still looking. Keke，so paiseh... Plane touched down already past midnight, I too tired, 快马加步就走掉了。差点就有艳遇了，woohoohoo *想太多*

This trip I didnt bought much things, as usual la... I always go holiday didnt buy things one. Only spent money on foodstuffs only, and 让我 take lots of photos and come back share with yall 我就很满意咯！

But then, I managed to buy the below watch for myself. I must thanks the 旺角中心 toilet, haha...

I was mentioning just now we are eating KFC before going to the airport right? Then after the KFC, I 尿急， so I was looking for a toilet at the basement. But the toilet is under maintenance.

So we go up to level 2 (no toilet on level 1). The queue super super long queue. I dun wanna wait so came out. Friends also make use of last minute chance to shop. While waiting for them, saw the watch shop selling this watch. 一看到马上一见钟情！

I have been looking for a cool silvery white digital square face sporty watch high and low in Singapore for the past one year but none I like. This watch fulfil all my requirements!! so 马上就买下来的！！

It's all thanks to the toilet for under maintenance, if not we couldnt have go up to level 2, we will just go up to level 1 and go back to "hotel" pack up and go.
